In our journey as Christian educators, we work with explicit intention to reflect the image of God and be distinctively different as we move about this world, changing the lives of children. However, interacting, serving, or hearing the relevancy and impact of the stories from those that we view as “distinctly different” from us, can often bring challenges, isolation, rejection, and fear in lieu of safe and loving spaces. Usually, the missing accountability exists within the quality of “humility.” The ability to make emotional and spiritual suspended space for the stories of another frequently creates the very thing we desire—healthy, thriving environments that produce healthy, thriving, and valued humans. This session will examine humility and its power and impact in transforming educational settings.
