Unlike families in Australia, Canada, and many European countries, families in the United States generally do not have access to public funding for attending private schools. There are, however, some exceptions and school choice programs that provide families with financial assistance are growing in popularity. In 1990, there were only five such programs. Today there are nearly 70 with many more proposed in legislatures across many states. Dr. Albert Cheng will provide an overview of the school choice programs across the United States, describe how they work, and offer considerations for school leaders who may wish to avail themselves of those opportunities.
