Christians have grown accustomed to revelations of abuses in our most respected organizations. Sadly, Christian communities are susceptible to abuse, and schools are not immune. Abuses occur most frequently when Christians neglect to create a culture that resists toxicity and fail to focus on character as the baseline qualification for leadership. How do we create school cultures that resist abuse and toxicity? The answer lies in a mysterious and beautiful little Hebrew word in Scripture that we translate “good,” the word tov. Tov provides a map for school leaders as they seek to create cultures that reflect the goodness of God.
